RELEGATION-HAUNTED Thanda Royal Zulu need only a point from their last game on Sunday to save their National First Division (NFD) status and ensure they don’t join the already relegated Moroka Swallows.
Thanda will be hosting the other relegation-threatened club, African Warriors, at Umhlathuze Sports Complex (3pm) in a crucial relegation battle that will decide which of the two strugglers will join Swallows in the ABC Motsepe League next season.
Thanda coach Roger Sikhakhane is well aware this will be a tough battle after Warriors stunned leaders Baroka FC 1-0 last week
Said a confident Sikhakhane: “We’re not going to the ABC Motsepe League.”
At the top are leaders Baroka FC with 59 points – three better than second placed Highlands Park – and Bakgaga need just one point from their final fixture at the Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday, where they host fourth placed Milano United.
But this could be a tricky game for ambitious Baroka under the watchful eye of confident head coach Kgokolo Thobejane. Their Cape Town based opponents need to win and hope third placed Mbombela United lose to Cape Town All Stars at the KaNyamazane Stadium to fail in their bid to remain third and gain a place in the promotion play-offs.
